For 2024, the Laborers' Local 348 Executive Board is pleased to announce that it will award up to ten scholarships of $1000 each.

PURPOSE OF THE FUND:

A scholarship program for members of the Laborers' International Union of North America, Local 348.

Laborers’ Local 348 has funded this scholarship program. Established in 2013, Scholarships will be awarded annually to assist eligible students in furthering their education. The first award was made in the spring of 2013.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Those eligible are individuals who are currently members of Laborers’ Local 348 that have maintained membership in any Local of the Laborers’ International Union of North America for the preceding two (2) years and their defined dependents*. To be considered, a student must be in good standing in the final year of high school or attending a trade program, college or university on a full time basis.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES:

The exact nature and content of the scholarship program will be determined on an annual basis by the Laborers’ Local 348 Executive Board. Whereas these scholarships are for the members of Laborers’ Local 348 or their dependents, announcements will be made on the Laborers’ Local 348 Web Site, www.local348.com, as well as at the Laborers’ Local 348 monthly union meeting.

Scholarships will usually be awarded each year before June graduation exercises.  

The following general scholarship criteria will be considered in making the selections:

Academic attainments (test scores, grade point average, class ranking)
Character
Need
Anticipated field of study
Extra-curricular accomplishments
Other (as may seem applicable to the scholarship program in question)

*Definition of a defined dependent: spouse, child(ren), grandchild(ren), stepchild(ren), step grandchild(ren) and legal dependent
